flood #1

It is hard to imagine arriving to your home in several inches of water. Well, that is what happened to us on August 14th. We had just arrived to the Chiang Mai airport after 22+ hours of flying and were met at the airport by some friends who told us, " you can't go home because your house is flooded." Yep, I was thinking "SHUT UP"! But he was not kidding. We went directly to a hotel and the next morning I went to rescue our dog and it was no exaggeration. I felt such panic when I saw all the water. I had waded through the flood water which hit my waist and finally when I reached our house I realized, we have lost alot of stuff. Fortunately, our dog was fine, a little stressed out but doing okay. As I was leaving it dawned on me that my walking into our neighborhood was quite dangerous and no one knew where I was. So, I quickly called a friend and asked one important question, " is there anything that can eat me in the lake waters here?", To my satisfaction there were not! Whew.... I carried our dog out like a baby. Going in was much easier than leaving, the current was moving against me when I was leaving and it was moving swiftly. It took me over an hour to walk 1/2 a kilometer. I was shaking and was just plum worn out!

here are some pictures of our first flood..... Yes by giving it a number means there were more! Read On!
