100 ROCK Festival- Bangkok, Thailand

A ROCK FESTIVAL?

Yep, I went, I saw, I jumped, I sweat, I got pushed, I moshed ( my Josh would be proud), I hung in there for 4 1/2 hours.

It was a weekend like no other. It started in the planning stages as Kayla mentioned that she didn't want anything big for her Birthday. I asked a clarifying question and she replied, "no surprise birthday". She shared that really if it was possible she wanted to go to this Rock concert. So, we planned the trip.

It turned out that she and Justin both took a friend. I was the chosen adult only by default :) .

We arrived late on Friday and planned to arrive at the concert at 6:30 and when we got there it was exciting to see the kids get excited. We wasted no time and purchased our t-shirts and went directly into the concert arena. Standing room only they weren't joking. The fun thing was we arrived and the opening acts were just getting set up. The crowd wasn't to big and there was plenty of room all around us. We weren't able to get up front against the railing but we were the in the front and could see so clearly. We were all very excited. I was a bit anxious thinking about the girls and all these men standing around. There were times I would start smiling at the thought of Dwayne being there. I could see him getting next to kayla and being protective. I told the guys to stand close to their sisters and be a guard for them incase they were getting bothered and didn't want the company. The boys did just that! :)

I lasted through 3 bands but I couldn't handle standing any longer. As the main bands began setting up the crowd grew double in size. You'll see the crowd picture and that wasn't even at the highest point!

The bands we saw were: Dues, Ian Brown, Franz Ferdinan, and Oasis. All of these bands were from Europe. They were really good and the crowd was good as well!

Some experiences I'll not forget.

1. being sandwiched between people I had never met.
2. having hands on your shoulders not to say hi but so that they could steady themselves from falling
3. having strangers ask if I was okay- fearing the crowd was getting to excited
4. being asked if I wanted to be up with my friends and when they found out I was their mom they just about fell out! Made me feel good!
5. being pushed back and feeling my feet come off the ground and thinking, I surely don't want to be lifted up and forced to crowd surf.
6. being forced to mosh like everyone else only because I had no choice in the matter. we were so close together that when a group decided to mosh well, all of us had to mosh! ;) ( for those who don't know what moshing is, its when you jump up and down moving your head and back and forth. I left off the moving the head thing.. :)
7. laughing so hard at the malaysian guy who decided it was too hot and he took off his shirt. the crowd around him looked with uh.... disgust that now we would be forced to have to be in close contact to his sweaty skin.
8. the drunk guy who danced like he was being blown in the wind. Funny to see
9. the short thai people trying to weave closer to the front and in the surge of the crowd they grabbed my hand and began dragging me forward. getting a bit concerned, I raised my hand high enough so that he could see he had the wrong girl. At his shock and embarrassment he let go and moved back behind me.
10. I've never sweat so much in all my life. Soak and wet from head to toe

There was a first for me.

1. I have never seen anyone become waterlogged from sweating but the kids were all waterlogged after being in the crowd for 5 1/2 hours.

I have to say that it's monday and I'm so sore from head to toe. going to a rock concert is truly a work out!

AMAZING!

The kids had a great time and I think it will be an event they won't forget. I too, had a great time!

they are already plotting the next concert they want to see. I told them just please give me 6 months to recover from this one:) .

Enjoy the pictures.
