You know some of you might get snow days but here in Thailand we get Flood days.
Yes~ it is true Rainy Season has begun and we are currently on day 4 and there is no real sign of any letting up. It started pretty heavy last night around 5pm and hasn't stopped.
As I was driving the kids to school we were discussing how thankful we were to not have to be dealing with the threat of flooding. That was until we left our mooban (neighborhood) we realized the canal that runs paralel to our mooban is filling up pretty fast. It is the highest we have ever seen it. But still no real worries because we are still about 10 feet higher than the lowest point of the canal. As we were driving the kids began speculating about School being canceled. As we drove and began getting closer we realized it could very well be a Flood Day.
As it turned out- this is the First offical Flood Day of the year. We arrived to the school neighborhood with Flooded streets. No cars can travel through it was so deep. Or should I say, we weren't about to travel through it. ;)
So, they are out playing in the flood waters :) and all excited about having a day off school. Now they are praying that it rains all day so that they "might" get another Flood Day!
Rainy Season gotta love it!
