A Mom's Prayer

When we were at the River over the 4th of July holiday we had lots of time to just sit and relax. It seemed that we would all rotate from inside where it was cool and refreshing to outside on the porch to the rocking chairs where the breeze was nice and the conversations flowed. It was a great time to hear the stories of our kids flow from the mouth of their mom's. We all pray that our kids will one day grow up and become something amazing. It is ever so sweet to see them mature and grow into adulthood without too much trouble. How even sweeter to hear the stories shared from a mom's heart.....

I'll never look at a rocking chair the same again because these 2 very special ladies whom I feel privileged to call friends shared their stories of being a mom and their hopes and aspirations for their children (well, adult kids)

Pray...... Won't you pray with me for our kids..... That was our commitment to one another as we separated and went back to our perspective lives. Sure we will cross paths again hopefully sooner rather than too much later but none the less, what a honor to be asked to join in praying for another mom's child/ adult children.

This stage of parenthood is anything but easy. Sure it has it's easy days I surely don't have to get up with them any more at ungodly hours in the morning. I don't have to give them baths or help brush their teeth and hair. I am not called on to fix their toys or find their clothes. I don't even have to fix every single meal they eat. In some ways this stage is a breeze when one thinks of the "caring" for our kids. But the prayer becomes more intense, our words measured more carefully and the worry gets thrown to the Lord not just daily but sometimes minute by minute.... No it's not always because our sweet kids are in dire need or that they are facing huge obstacles. It is however because this mom has a hard time letting go of being the mom and so desperately wants to see her children grow to be god honoring, people loving and people of strength and character..... that I find I pray more than ever!

So when you see a rocking chair, think back to the day you held your little one in your arms and was sorely amazed at what an amazing gift your little one was to you and think now at what ever stage of life you are in and pray.... Pray without ceasing.......

Here's to life and the Joys of being a mom........
