Hi all~
I just read on line at Fox news that there were protests held to the Coup in Bangkok. Here in Chiang mai there have been no known protest. There is still a strong military presence but life seems to be going on as 'normal' as "normal" is. We have noticed a strong support for the troops here in that people are stopping and bringing the guys food and water. It's really pretty neat to see the people support the work of their troops. I can't say that they are acting in support of the Coup but it is obvious that they care for the men and women who are serving in the Thai Military. As we have driven past them on a daily basis we too have taken them water.
I'm not so sure how this will end but I can't help but think that we haven't seen the worst of this yet. Call me negative but I just got that gut feeling. I want to believe that things are going to remain calm but I'm not so sure - One thai person said, that most Thai's he knows weren't upset with the Coup to overthrow Thaskin but they are concerned that the military is re-writing their Constitution and that most Thai's are fearful the Military will like the control they have and therefore not give it up.
I visited a site of a young man here in Thailand - he used these scriptures :
Romans 13:1-3 "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you."
Proverbs 11:14 "For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure."
Psalm 2:1 "Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?"
Psalm 147:10 "His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of man; the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love."
Psalm 66:7 "He rules forever by his power, his eyes watch the nations- let not the rebellious rise up against him."
Psalm 33:16 "No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save."
It was a great reminder that I while we are uncertain of the outcome of this Military Coup we know for CERTAIN that God our LORD and Savior is at work even in this situation and so We have to find REST in the midst of this situation . I am personally reminded of :
Proverbs 3:5-6 and Ps. 37: 7
" Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and Do not lean on your own understanding, In all your ways acknowledge HIM, And He will make your paths Straight."
I can't help but correct my thinking and first and for most trust in my Lord and acknowledge Him - I can't lean on my own thinking or understanding of this situation because He is the only one who really knows and understands what is happening and why.
" Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes."
SO, I REST in the Lord and watch and wait patiently for Him....
I am going to trust in Lord and Rest.....
Hope you all do the same ..... Don't worry about us we are fine
