This year is a milestone year for Me personally. I turned 40 years old- actually it is for Josh too :) he turned 21 years old. :) wow, where do the years go?
Well, anyway, Since I started back to running in Malaysia some 6 years ago, I had thought really long and hard about running a marathon. But after thinking about it I just thought, no too much work and not enough benefit. Not long though after I had an injury and couldn't run consistantly I realized there was ALOT of benefit to my running. For one thing, I really did enjoy it and I missed it. * note to everyone- it's not fun starting out and getting through the conditioning part but once past that ... it's GREAT* So I made the decision that when I was healed and able I would love to run a marathon or 1/2 marathon before or on my 40th birthday. That was about 4 years ago. I've tried to get back to running and something in me said, I wasn't going to reach this goal. I had resigned myself to letting it go. BUT then I subscribed to Runners world and decided, I could still accomplish my goal. I started training and thought - I should run a 10 k to test the waters. My training was going well and it was all me. I had the date of the 10k planned to be there:) my hubby went and cheered me on :) .. that was such a wonderful feeling, and I finished 4th. :) I felt GREAT! Then another health issue and things took a turn backwards. Now almost a year later, I'm back on the training mode. I am going to accomplish this goal and I have decided each Sunday I would post on my goals for the week. I've been running now for about 3 weeks. I had to take the last 2 weeks off from being sick and having meetings but I'm back in it again.
Starting from scratch is no fun though! It's not enjoyable at ALL....... okay so there are a few moments in every run that I think, Man, I love this, but it fades quickly as the pain of my body screams-STOP THIS MADDNESS! Today- I ran only 2 miles... seems like a long way away form the 16 I need to be able to run. But I am going to persevere and I'm going to accomplish this goal!
For this week coming up I'll be working up to running 30 minutes non stop. I know I can do it but I'm just up to 20 minutes and I'm DYING by the end of my 20 minutes. :) LOL!
So- I'll be increasing my time each day by 2 minutes. By friday I should be up to 30 minutes and then I'll stay there for the following week....
Here's to reaching for your goals!
