It is official that the Colorado Springs fire is 100% contained and life has started to resume back to normal. Normal for those of us who were not directly affected but for those who lost homes and had those who were evacuated have been able to move back home.
It is sad to see the scars on the mountain. Still no word on how the fire started still lots of speculation. One thing is for sure though the air is clear and the sky is blue...

Pinterest ~ who knew it was so much fun!
I have really enjoyed connecting in new ways through pinterest. It is a cool way to learn new things and put boards together that reflect something about yourself. Love it!
I started a Books board and as I was pinning some of my favorite reads it brought back fun memories. I love all the friends the Lord has given me ~ I do miss some of them dearly......
One book that brought back some wonderful memories was the Personality Plus book.
Personality Plus
I remember Stacy and I having long conversations about personalities and it was fun discovering and learning things about myself. As I started thinking back there were so many fun and wonderful conversations I had with this friend.... Miss those days but thankful I learned some wonderful things through that friendship. Not all friendships are meant to last - but I guess what is important is that I am soooo thankful for it while I had it!
Thanks Stacy and many others who have been in my life!
Here's to Past and Present Friendships...... Learning is living!

New Term Starts
Open registration starts Monday and I will be back to the grind of classes yet again. I have really enjoyed though the time off this summer. So thankful for this break and have really enjoyed getting back to some pleasure reading.
I'll be taking 18 hours this semester. After this term though I'll be focusing on all my major specific classes. I can't wait to finally get to the subjects I am passionate about and love.
Here's to being always being a learner!

Been studying
Reading through the bible again this year. It's always amazing to me how much I learn every time I begin this journey.
I am in Genesis and learning new things every single morning. Family and heritage is all through Genesis along with Blessings from obeying God's commandments, Statues and His Laws. Abraham was blessed, Isaac was blessed, and Jacob deceives his father and takes his brother's blessing.
I had to smile because as a mother I see the differences in my son's and my daughter. I see the blessings that have been given to them each one based on the Lord's blessings not mine or Dwayne's. I am so thankful that we don't live as Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob lived. How difficult it would be to see your kids pit one against the other.
I am dumbfounded over the fact that Jacob followed his mother's plan to deceive his father. Had Isaac thought to redeem Esau by blessing him after he so carelessly traded his birthright for a meal? Or was Jacob always so cunning that he knew his brother was so hungry that he'd do anything for something to eat and so he took advantage of his brother? I am not sure what the cause for this families issues but I do know that it seemed as though Isaac wanted to redeem his son's careless action in giving up his birthright by giving him a blessing. But sadly Jacob robbed his brother and how sad that is.
I walk away from this chapter with it is better to serve your brother and give willingly than to try to manipulate or deceive.
Gal. 5:17,25
"For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please."
"If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit"
What I love about verse 25 is that it is preceded by:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
I am challenged in this every day working with people and living in community.
Here's to trying to live a fruitful life.

Fires
The fires in Colorado have been mind blowing. I've always lived in the south for the most part. When we moved to Washington State it was amazing to experience the what was sorta the mid west. Living there it was in the Volcano zone... Now in Colorado it's Fire country. I've learned to really appreciate beauty and it is so sad to see it just gone...

Houston Texas ~ Not to shabby. It was a big city and lots to see. It really was prettier than I thought it would be - I guess one really can't judge Texas by El Paso.
What brought me to Texas was someone we think of as family.
Hannah Minick was getting married to Andrew Roberts.
May 23rd turned out to be a special day and it really was a very sweet time.

Hiking
It was a great day to have a hike. A group from work decided to take it on and we headed out. It was a moderate hike with some tricky crossings. It wasn't that hard but the rocks were very slippery and that made it difficult in some places. The views were amazing and we were so high up that at times if you looked down you would realize just how high we were. It was a great day and we had some good laughs.
However, there was one person missing ~ my husband. I can't wait to take him on this hike!

Writing
I have been looking back over my blog post since 2005 and honestly I miss the writing and I think maybe I'll get back into it again
Journals and the Journey.......
I was just going through my old blog. It is amazing the things I've shared and written. This was one I thought was just kinda cool to look back and see how the Lord worked in my life. I won't bother sharing all of it but in short - I journal and at the close of all my journals I recap what the Lord was teaching me. Here is my recap for part of 2006.
Righteousness,
testings and trials
service and stewardship
fear of the Lord
obedience
fruit of the spirit
called with a purpose, set apart
temptation, sin and the power to overcome
gifts and ministry
broken relationships and the gift of forgiveness, reconciliation and the love of God
loving as Christ loves us
anger, the power of scripture to overcome sin , the tongue who can tame it, anger/bitterness and righteousness can NOT coexist
blessings and curses how we live and who we touch through our lives
peace of God unrest or stirring from the spirit, change of course or desert experience
understanding who you are in Christ and the goal is for us to be Transformed, change is required; this sometimes means drastic measures
lessons and victories, milestones to remind us of our journey,
keeping our eyes on the Lord and keeping the course, learning, changing and sharing; victory is ours in Christ the eyes of the Lord; guide us, see us, goes before us, searches our hearts, on those who fear God.
Thirst for the word, hunger for righteousness; desire meat from the word, don't remain babes but grow and mature
consider who's you are
That is my life in a year. What a way to reflect where I've been and how far I've come. I'm far from having attained anything, in each of these areas I've yet to become victorious but in this Journey of becoming more Christ Like I've learned that
